Seems like no one is all that interested in a season-long celebration of Barry Bonds.
Not Bud Selig.
Not Hank Aaron.
Not even Barry Bonds.
Nope, Barry has no interest in letting this countdown last all season. That's why he's hitting homers at a near-record pace -- one every 9.67 plate appearances. That's his best rate since 2001 -- the year he set the current single-season record of 73. He might top Aaron before Memorial Day.
Of course, he might not hold that single-season record for much longer. Alex Rodriguez went yard twice tonight against the Devil Rays, setting a new American League record for April homers with 14. According to the projected stats on his ESPN.com player card, A-Rod is now projected to finish the season with 117 homers and 288 RBI.
